View an Opportunity
Today has been another great day at Tiger Heart HQ. We left the comfort of Somerset House and headed towards the Shangri La hotel at the Shard where a presentation about a new RFID product awaited us.
What’s RFID I hear you ask? Well, as I’ve learnt today this stands for Radio Frequency Identification. This technology communicates data between two points which allows a business to create secure data transfers which is useful for access control and cashless payments. Think about using a oyster card, it’s interesting to think about how we can refurbish this and how we can change the technology to be used for different consumer experiences. For example, using RFID could help us be more sustainable by determining where particular products are from and what materials have been used to create them.
Walking into the Shangri La Hotel I thought not only is this place beautiful but the soapy aroma smells amazing! Maybe a strange thought, but hey I’m a woman who’s a sucker for a good scent. Anyways, going up to the 34th floor (and starting to fear that I was starting to get vertigo as my ears popped) I wondered what the event would hold.
As we approached the conference room there was one thing that cannot be avoided: the view. This view is by far one of the best you can get in the city (if not THE best!). Just simply being there heightens any occasion or reason you’re there.
Although I found the event interesting, discussing simple uses of RFID, I felt that it failed to inspire me. I didn’t leave the event wanting to run and tell everyone I knew about the product I’ve witnessed, nor the presentation that was done. I feel in order to execute a successful, inspirational presentation you must try and engage with every single one of your audiences members. All this might require is simply by using eye contact, or using minimal text on your slides so all that is being focused on is your words and what you have to say.
After leaving London’s greatest view, we headed back to Somerset House. Once we had got stuck back into our work, we were interrupted by the arrival of a new holographic product template that had been developed by one of our partners. We’re really excited to test this out!
All in all, a day filled with beautiful buildings, great views and fantastic opportunities. Bring on next week!
