LONDON – June 2021 – UK innovation Agency, Tiger Heart, collaborated with contemporary artist Sara Pope to design and produce her first digital art piece as an NFT.
Sara Pope is best known for her glossy, colourful, pop paintings of lips that have sold all over the world to some of the most influential people in popular culture.
Sara Pope: “As part of my exhibition at South Place Hotel I am delighted to present my first ever digital artwork, ‘SUPERNOVA’ which I created with the fantastic innovation agency Tiger Heart. Using my emblematic lips paintings as a starting point, I wanted to create something magical, beautiful and otherworldly. Taking the intrinsic attributes of my paintings; sensuality, the use of light, colour and light reflection, we then integrated them dynamically into images of my works. The resulting piece has a galactic quality. The lips sparkle and dazzle, emanating light from within, at times the light moving as if liquid, in an organic flow of stardust. I decided to name the piece SUPERNOVA – ‘a star at the optimal peak of luminosity’, as a reference not only to this, but to the metaphorical notion of the star, epitomising beauty, enchantment and the divine.”
Sanj Surati (Tiger Heart CEO): “We have been working with Sara for a while now and feel privileged to finally be able to showcase our first digital installation with her in London’s prestigious South Place Hotel. Applying movement to Sara’s iconic style was a wonderful challenge that allowed us to support her in this new venture into adding movement to her wonderful imagery. We believe that piece will engage with her audience in a new and exciting way”.

Sara Pope sells work regularly at auction at Bonhams Auction House and is also the first British female artist in over 70 years to have a piece of work accepted into the Vatican collection. Taking inspiration from a successful career in the fashion industry as a shoe designer as well as her work in magazines as a designer and art director, Sara aims to capture the sensuality, beauty and power conveyed by the lips and mouth. Interested in notions of beauty, communication, and the concept of perfection, Sara uses the perspective of her commercial experience to explore these themes. Pope’s work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions and art fairs across London and internationally, including Next Street Gallery, Paris, The Saatchi Gallery, London, The London Original Print Fair at the Royal Academy of Arts and SCOPE Miami.
